MIGN #1501

Up ]

Michigan Northern #1501.

This is from an undated postcard with a view of the Michigan Northern's RS-2 (Ex-GBW #304) southbound over Johnson Creek at Reed City MI.  After an eight hour lay-over, this job will turn at Rockford, Michigan.

By 1981 the short hood on this loco was cut low, so this photo has to be before then.

MIGN engineer Paul Baumgartner adds:

"I believe the fellow in the cab window is Paul Benson, with whom I regularly worked. That would probably have been me in the right hand seat. The engine was running backwards. It was set up for long hood ahead."
