2013 Titletown Train Show

Up ]

Green Bay & Western railfanning at the Titletown Train Show in Green Bay, Wis.

The Titletown Train Show was held on April 27-28, 2013.  I got to do a little train watching while at the show, and here is some of the GREEN BAY ROUTE equipment I saw:

NorthEastern Wisconsin Exhibition Railroading

NEWER is an HO scale modular group based in Green Bay and displays their layout at shows around Wisconsin.

HH660 #101 in the GB&W's pre-1947 black paint scheme was in the yard.  The Atlas model was custom painted in this striking scheme by EngineHouse Services.

An Alco C-424 (#314) and an RS-3 (#305) poke their noses out of the doors of the NEWER roundhouse.  They wear the railroad's red-and-gray paint scheme of the 1950s and 60s.

A load of coal in a Kewaunee, Green Bay & Western hopper at the engine service facilities. This is an Atlas model.

The GBW's business car #600, the ROAMER, was spotted on a track on the edge of the yard.

A pair of FA-1 cab units sit next to the engine house. The arrival of these locomotives in 1947-49 ushered in diesel power on mainline trains and spelled the end of steam power on the GB&W. These are Walthers models.

Well-maintained track is key to smooth operations Here are three Difco side dump cars and a one-bay ballast hopper used for that purpose. It's time to get the rerailing frog out however... GBW #132 and #135 are off the track! These are painted and decaled Walthers models.

A pair of KGB&W single-sheathed boxcars pass by in a train.  These Accurail cars were special runs produced for Trainfest 2007.

A load of lumber can be seen through the open door of this Kadee PS-1 boxcar.

A&W #3004 refrigerator car (Accurail custom run for the GBWHS) and GBW #112005 GAEX boxcar (MDC Roundhouse) in the yard module.

KGB&W offset side hopper (Atlas model) with a full load of coal.

Overland Western Lines

The HO scale OWL modular layout was built and is operated by alumni of the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

A pair of red Alcos lead a train through a curve.

A couple of GBW boxcars in the train.

The windows on caboose 113 have been plated over, clearly identifying this as a 1980s-era model.

A nicely weathered Pullman-Standard boxcar.

This boxcar converted to haul wood chips was spotted in a an eastbound train.

Another wood chip boxcar.

Ettrick and Northern Railroad

The real Ettrick & Northern was a ten-mile-long railroad connecting with the GB&W at Blair.  This HO layout is based out of Eau Claire, Wis.

GB&W's steam locomotive #23 approaches Blair.

GB&W's combine #50 gives the passengers of the E&N their connection with the rest of the world.

South Eastern Wisconsin Hi-Railers

The South Eastern Wisconsin Hi-Railers are from Sussex, Wis. and have a 15'x40' O scale layout.

GB&W freight cars in the yard.  The PS-2 covered hoppers and the double-door boxcar are made by MTH.

Waupaca Area Model Railroaders

The Waupaca Area Model Railroaders HO scale modular layout recreates prototypical railroad scenes from central Wisconsin.

This ACF 50' boxcar is from Atlas.

Capital City N'Gineers

The Capital City N'Gineers of Madison, Wis. was founded in 1974 and have a large N scale layout using the NTrak standard.

This double door GB&W boxcar was seen behind a cut of orange aggregate hoppers in the club's 15-track yard module.

This 40' plug door boxcar was also in the yard.
