A marketing brochure promotes the Green Bay Route's fast freight service. Includes a color drawing of the Kewaunee car ferry slip.
I'm not sure of the exact date of this item. Since it promotes the Kewaunee, Green Bay & Western, it has to be prior to the 1969 merger of the KGB&W into the Green Bay & Western. The fleet of Alco FA-1 locos as featured on the cover began their service in 1947-49, and all were retired in the early 1960s, so that puts the probable date of this brochure somewhere in the 1950s. The brochure promotes the car ferry connections of the Ann Arbor and the Chesapeake & Ohio.
The image of the Kewaunee carferry yard was also used on the 1952 annual report.

Pictured above are the Ann Arbor and Chesapeake and
Ohio RR carferries in the slips at Kewaunee, Wisconsin. These carferries provide frequent
daily, year-round, all-weather service across Lake Michigan between Kewaunee, Wisconsin
and Frankfurt, Michigan via the Ann Arbor and between Kewaunee, Wisconsin, and Ludington,
Michigan via the Chesapeake and Ohio. Average steaming time across Lake Michigan is four hours. Only one hour required to unload and reload carferries at ports. Movement of KGB&W through trains are coordinated with carferry arrivals and departures. DIRECT ROUTE BETWEEN EAST AND WEST |
