GB&W engine #25 leads a train of flatcars loaded with earth.
This 1910 postcard shows two men on the engine pilot, one on the
ground near the engine, one in the gangway between the engine and the
tender, and one hanging out front engineer's window. Since a
typical train had a five-member crew it is likely that this is the
entire crew for the train.
The location is uncertain but the card is postmarked "Grand Rapids"
(now Wisconsin Rapids) so it is likely from near that area.
Check out the roadbed on the line! It doesn't look like much
more than sand! |
