Andy Laurent captured this panoramic view of of Norwood Yard in
July, 2001..
The Wisconsin Central purchased the Green Bay & Western and
leveled most of the support structures that were located at Norwood
yard. The only recognizable landmark is the grain elevator,
which dates back to World War 1. The oldest Norwood Yard
structures went back to the late 1800s. [This photo is particularly
emotional for me. Much of my GB&W railfanning took place near
this very location. My great-aunt and -uncle (R.I.P.) lived a
half-block from this spot on Norwood Avenue. There wasn't a visit
in the 70s that didn't include me slipping off to the yard for at least
a few minutes. I still remember my father taking me by the hand
for a walk to the yard, about 1966.]
