Here's an interesting postcard photo. It is postmarked at Arcadia, June 19,
191?.
This view looks northwest; Arcadia's depot (built in 1874) is on the
right.
I wonder what is going on? The GB&W was the only railroad to
serve Arcadia, so this is certainly taking place on the Green Bay Route.
Perhaps the destination is Milwaukee? The car shown in the photo is a
Pullman sleeper.
I wonder what the story is with all the people and cars lined up at
the depot? Was Arcadia the starting point for this trip, or did it come
from somewhere else and the photo shows all the local townsfolk who came
out to greet the train?
I don't know.
I'll keep looking for clues -- but the story behind this photo may be
lost to the ages. |
