A postcard view of business car "Roamer" in front of the Rock
Island's depot at Ottawa, Ill.
The text of the postcard reads:
The "Roamer" was built in 1918 for Joshua Cosden, a wealthy
Oklahoma oil man, at a cost of $200,000. The luxury car was used for the visit
of The Prince of Wales to The United States in the early 20's. The car was
purchased by the Green Bay and Western R.R. in 1944 and used as a business car
until 1972. The "Roamer" is now owned by Mr. & Mrs. Thomas R.
Hill of Ottawa, Illinois.
The Rock Island depot behind the car is in Ottawa, Ill so this photo was
probably taken in 1972 when the business car left
the GBW for a new home with a private owner in Ottawa, Illinois. The car
is now owned by Kevin Johnson.
